Studies in Light, Shadow, and Form
Andrew Carey makes fine art photographs by hand. No lens. No digital capture.
Each image begins with a camera he builds himself, a hand-built box with a pinhole the size of a pencil tip. The process is slow by design. Only time, light, film, and chemistry.
Rendered entirely in black and white, his work studies the male figure through light, shadow, and form.
Andrew develops each image in his Los Angeles darkroom. Every print is signed, archival, and editioned by hand. The cameras themselves are also offered as limited art objects.
